YELLOW DOT PROGRAM - a Muskegon County Program to provide First Responders important medical information in the event of a car accident or other medical emergency.

Brush Burning

Michigan DNR Fire Officials determine when open burning is permitted and when it is not.  You must visit their website by CLICKING HERE or call the burn permit hotline at 1-866-922-BURN (2876).    Conditions can change very quickly - please check back often and every time - BEFORE you burn for the latest information.  And remember - it's for burning of clean brush only!  No grass, leaves, lumber or household trash!  If you have any questions that can't be answered on the website:  please call one of the following numbers or assistance:   DNR fire officials can be contacted directly at either 231-861-5636 or 231-788-6798.  

Burning in a fire ring or campfire container IS NOT typically affected when open burning is banned.  Please be safe and have a water hose nearby whenever you enjoy a campfire.

AFTER HOURS - There is a mail slot in the door on the west side of the building - you may drop payments or any other paperwork in this mail slot when the office is not open. (DO NOT put CASH in this mail slot)

POLICY NOTE:  Generally, if a holiday falls on a Saturday the offices will be closed on Friday and if the holiday falls on a Sunday, the offices will be closed on Monday. 

IMPORTANT NOTE:   During severe weather, when Reeths-Puffer Schools are DELAYED OR CLOSED, Laketon Township will operate on a 2-hour delay, or possibly even CLOSE completely if conditions warrant closing.  DELAYS AND CLOSING notices will be posted in several locations:  THIS WEBSITE, the Laketon Township Community Information Facebook page and whenever possible we will utilize local tv news channels whenever we can.  please note: some stations only allow schools/churches to report closings on their system.
