Recycling Information
Laketon Township strives to find and provide the most recent & relevant information regarding recycling to our residents and the public in general.
This list of recycling events and and website links is always changing and growing so check back often.
Laketon Township will accept household batteries (including rechargeable batteries, cell phone & laptop batteries), cfl lightbulbs and cell phones at the Township Hall and will transport them to an appropriate location for proper recycling. Click here to see how the recycling process for batteries works.
Note: working cell phones collected by Laketon Township will be donated to Every Woman's Place - please make sure all personal information, contact lists & text messages are deleted from the phone prior to being dropped off. We are not responsible for information not deleted from these devices.
- FREE Electronics Recycling Collection Event: June 2, 2012 at Mullally Park from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm. There is no residency requirement. Click the link to go to the News & Information page for details.
- FREE Scrap Tire Recycling Collectin Event: June 9, 2012 at Mullally Park from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm. You must be a resident of Laketon, Fruitland or Dalton Townships. Click the link to go to the News & Information page for details.

- CFL's or Mercury containing lamps/lightbulbs - Mercury is a toxic heavy metal. Click this link to find out how to properly handle these items - for your safety and the safety of the environment.
- Muskegon County Household Recycling & Disposal Guide: A quick stop at this website can show you how and where to dispose of a variety of items responsibly.
- Muskegon County Sustainability Office. Click this link to go to the County's website for sustainability. There you will find volumes of information on reducing, reusing, recycling and other things to improve our community and our sustainability.
- Muskegon Area Medication Disposal Program. Click this link for information on collection events for a list of medications and devices acceptable through this program.
- Recycle old latex paint. Take old paint to a Re-Coat location for recycling and get a $1.00 voucher for every gallon towards the purchase of re-coat, quality recycled paint - available in 16 designer colors. Click this link and go to Re-coat's website for locations or more information.
- Donate unused paint and other building materials to Habitat for Humanity Re-Store. Click here for a list of acceptable materials.
- Muskegon Area Sustainability Coalition - This group will be a clearing house for activities, events and opportunities that advance principles of Sustainability throughout the Muskegon region.
- You Dump It, You Drink It Campaign - to educate the public on the dangers of the improper disposal of used motor oil and offer solutions for the proper recycling of motor oil. A pamphlet is available at the Laketon Township Hall with info on free used oil recycling locations in Muskegon County.
- The Internet Consumer Recycling Guide - The information is for regular folks with regular household quantities of materials to recycle. The goal is to help make recycling so easy and automatic that it blends into the flow of everyday life.
